1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. “Session” cookies disappear when you close the browser; “persistent” cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. “First-party” cookies are set by the site you visit; “third-party” cookies by other domains, typically for analytics or advertising. Similar technologies include browser localStorage and sessionStorage, pixels and web beacons, device fingerprinting, and, in mobile applications, software development kits (SDKs), local databases, secure key stores and advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android).
Under Spanish and EU law, technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you requested can be used without consent; all others, in particular analytics and advertising, require your prior informed consent.
2. Cookies on the KinPulse website
kinpulse.app is a static informational site. It does not set any cookie, does not use localStorage or sessionStorage to store preferences, embeds no analytics (such as Google Analytics), no advertising or remarketing pixels, no social-media widgets, no chat widgets and no embedded videos. The language you read is determined by the URL (/en, /uk, /es), not by a stored preference. Because no non-essential technology is used, no consent banner is shown.
Our hosting and network providers may set strictly necessary technical cookies or headers for security (for example to mitigate bots or distribute load) that do not identify you across sites. If such a mechanism is active, it is used exclusively to deliver the site securely and is exempt from consent.
Links on the website to the Apple App Store, Google Play or other third-party sites take you to those providers, who apply their own cookie policies once you are on their pages.
3. Storage used by the KinPulse app
Mobile apps do not use browser cookies, but they store data on your device. KinPulse stores only what is strictly necessary for the functions you use:
- Secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore via Expo SecureStore): your refresh token, which keeps you signed in, and a pending invitation code. Access tokens are kept only in memory.
- Local application storage (AsyncStorage): interface settings, onboarding answers until they are submitted, and SOS data (pending alerts, recent alert history, settings and the local paths of voice notes). This storage is not encrypted by the app itself and relies on the operating system’s sandbox; protect your device with a passcode. On Android, automatic backup covers only app preferences and never your sign-in token.
- App files: voice recordings made for SOS, kept in the app’s private documents directory on your device until you uninstall the app.
- Push token: a token issued by Apple or Google (on Android through Firebase Cloud Messaging, used solely for notification delivery) via the Expo push service so that reminders and SOS alerts can reach your device. It is stored on our server linked to your session and removed when you sign out, disable notifications or delete your Account.
- Operating-system permissions you grant (notifications, location, camera, photos, microphone).
4. What the app does not use
KinPulse contains no third-party analytics SDK (no Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel or PostHog), no crash-reporting SDK that sends data to third parties, no advertising SDK and no social-media SDK. It does not read or use advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID), does not fingerprint your device, does not track you across other apps or websites and therefore does not display an App Tracking Transparency prompt. Our development tooling (Expo) may receive basic, non-identifying device information when delivering app updates. Apple and Google may collect their own diagnostic and usage data about the app under your device settings and their privacy policies; we do not control that collection.
5. How to control storage
Website: because we set no cookies there is nothing to opt out of. You can nonetheless block or delete cookies for any site in your browser settings (Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies; Safari: Preferences → Privacy; Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security; Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions). Blocking strictly necessary cookies of a hosting provider may affect how the site loads.
App: you can sign out to remove your session, disable notifications in the app or in your device settings to stop push delivery, revoke any permission in your device settings, delete conversations and Care Data in the app, and delete your Account (Profile → Delete account) to remove server-side data. Uninstalling the app removes its local data from your device; on iOS the sign-in token kept in the Keychain may persist until it expires (30 days), so sign out before uninstalling. Uninstalling does not delete your Account or cancel a Store subscription.
6. Changes to this Policy
If we introduce any new cookie, SDK or storage technology that is not strictly necessary, we will update this Policy before enabling it, describe the provider, purpose and duration, and request your consent through a mechanism that lets you accept or refuse it freely and withdraw consent as easily as you gave it. The effective date at the top of the page indicates the latest revision.
